In 1985, Steve Campo opened a small theater in downtown Hartford. Everything about it was new and uncomplicated from the price of a ticket to the ‘no jackets – no ties – flip flops if you dare – dress code. Steve was determined to ‘revolutionize’ the theater experience. TheaterWorks (as it’s eventually known) – is general admission only, first come, first served and most importantly produces the boldest repertory seen on Hartford stages.

It’s downtown and it’s underground. It’s exciting and edgy and before too long, Steve strikes a deal to purchase the company a home.
