5/12/2020 POWER of THEATER
Last week, we celebrated the POWER OF THEATER with a week-long schedule of online programming.

4/26/2020 TOGETHER WE CAN DO THIS
I hope this finds you healthy and safe. What a strange and extraordinary time we are living in. It gets harder every day we can’t connect in the ways we are used to. We miss your faces, your smiles, your laughter, your tears … and we most certainly miss the connection only live theater creates – something we perhaps took for granted until now.

I am writing to share some IMPORTANT UPDATES ABOUT OUR CURRENT SEASON, and to let you know what is happening at TheaterWorks while we wait to re-connect in our space:

Considering the huge challenges we are facing in the months ahead, and the fact that we are not able to gather, we have no choice but to cancel the final two shows of our current 19-20 season (THE CAKE and FUN HOME.) This has been a heart-breaking decision to make. Though we’ve cancelled THE CAKE, we’re excited about moving our production of FUN HOME into our 20/21season.

We are grateful to you for all the support so many of you have shown these past few weeks. Your emails and calls have meant more than we can possibly express. In response to this crisis, we have worked hard to reduce all expenses, furloughed some of our team members who can’t work right now, and we’ve applied for all available emergency relief dollars. But even with all of this, without the ability to produce theater we are facing a large deficit. We understand this is a difficult time for everyone, but we hope that you can find it in your heart to help us get through this and on to our next season.

There are two very important things you can do to ensure we get there:
Invest in our future by SUBSCRIBING TO OUR UPCOMING 20-21 SEASON. I will be announcing a line-up of really exciting shows on May 14th. While we cannot wait to be back together in our intimate space, we’re also exploring other safe and creative ways to connect. There is no better way to express your support for our work than to buy a subscription.

If you are in the position to MAKE A DONATION during this difficult time it would be an incredible gift to us. Any amount, no matter the size, would make a big difference. I know you hear that a lot, but I assure you – it’s very true for us.

It goes without saying if you have purchased tickets to THE CAKE or FUN HOME that donating that ticket revenue or crediting those dollars is the best thing you can do for us. We need to take care of our theater, our staff, our artists, and have the resources to produce the kind of work you know and love when we return. If you can do that, it would help so much.

But I am an optimist. I remain hopeful that we will be able to gather in some way this summer (with some restrictions of course). If that happens, we are ready to bring back our beautiful and uplifting production of EVERY BRILLIANT THING. When that happens, anyone who has donated back their tickets will be our guests for FREE – our gift back to you.

YOU ARE ESSENTIAL TO US. Every day we look for ways to stay connected and show our appreciation. Our weekly on-line programming (LIVING ROOM CONCERTS and GET SAUCED) is there to entertain and provide some much-needed escape. Watch for more virtual events coming soon.

I hope you understand that all our decisions are being made with the intention to take care of you,  as well as our family of artists, staff, donors, and corporate partners. Your well-being and safety is the most important thing to us. We will be together again – with much joy, passion and excitement – once it is SAFE to do so.

Our 20/21 SEASON will be our 35th season. We look forward to celebrating it with all of you.
It’s true: together we can do this.

YOU ARE ESSENTIAL TO OUR FUTURE

Our BOX OFFICE remains open Monday  through Friday – and Josh is ready to help. You’ll receive an email soon with instructions on how to donate back your ticket dollars, receive a credit for future events, or request a refund (or you can use the links below). Again, we hope you will stand with us.
